Did you know that In fiction writing, there are only 6 mini-themes?

Story-telling is ages old. You may remember from a high school literature class about the three-act story structure.

And you may have been introduced to the idea of “theme.”

A theme can be described as the main point of the story.

And in all stories, there are really on 6 mini-themes:

1. Love

2. Hate

3. Greed

4. Passion

5. Pain

6. Revenge

Notice these are all strong EMOTIONS.

At least three of them should be in a novel in some form.

And this applies to your memoir as well.

Here are the three I identified for my first memoir, Coming to Las Vegas, A true tale of sex, drugs & Sin City in the 70s.

1. Love

2. Greed

3. Passion

And here are the three I identified for my second memoir, HELP! I Married An Alien A Comedian

1. Love

2. Passion
