Remember your first day at school?
When you’re a kid, the first day of school can hold immense significance as it sets the tone for your educational journey.
It marks a pivotal transition, as you begin a path of learning, growth, and self-discovery. It can even shape the trajectory of your life.
The interactions and experiences of that initial day can leave a lasting impact, influencing your attitude towards education, your peers, and your own capabilities.
Who knew the first day of school could be so impactful?
The summer I was three years old, we moved from our little one-bedroom house in Seattle’s Ballard neighborhood to a two-bedroom house in the same neighborhood, with a basement!
Our new neighbors across the street had a little girl, Judy, who was two years older than me. That fall, Judy started kindergarten at Whittier Heights Elementary school. All that winter she came home after school and shared her stories with me.
Everything Judy did impressed me, and her stories of kindergarten filled me with excitement and anticipation. I couldn’t wait for my time to come.
Two years later, when school started in September, it was my turn. And I was ready.
